SW Community Foundation
The Center for Rural AI is a fiscally sponsored project of SW Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) serving Southwest Colorado. All donations are received and administered by the Foundation on CRAI's behalf and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; the Foundation issues your receipt. Online gifts are handled through a secure payment processor and settle to the Foundation — you are always giving to a 501(c)(3).
The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado facilitates the growth and effectiveness of philanthropic contributions and expands the culture of giving to meet the needs of our communities.
The Community Foundation inspires hope, leadership, and generosity in the region by bringing economic stability, professional development, and collaboration to the nonprofit sector.
As a community facilitator, our Foundation works to increase efficiency, resiliency, and success for nonprofits, while maximizing effective grantmaking for philanthropists, to make Southwest Colorado a better place to live. In 2025, the Community Foundation infused $5.8 million into the region. We invite you to create, grow and give funds through our careful management.

Without intervention, AI systems will continue to be trained on urban data, embedding biases that disadvantage rural healthcare, agriculture, education, and economic development — leaving 46 million Americans on the wrong side of the most transformative technology of our time. Your gift helps change that.
How Your Donation Will Be Used
Every dollar goes directly to building rural AI capacity, engagement, and sovereignty.
AI Readiness Assessments
For rural institutions to benchmark and plan their AI journey.
Training Programs
That create rural AI expertise and workforce capacity.
Data Infrastructure
That enables rural communities to control their own data.
Strategic Partnerships
That bring rural expertise and real use cases into how AI tools are built.
What your gift makes possible
Gift examples are illustrative and will be finalized once CRAI confirms current program costs.
Workshop materials and follow-up resources for rural participants.
A small-group AI clinic for a rural business, nonprofit, or community organization.
Documenting and publishing a reusable AI playbook from a rural pilot.
A full rural AI pilot cycle: implementation support, documentation, and dissemination.
We work lean and document as we go. A modest gift creates reusable tools, open playbooks, and training assets that many rural organizations can adapt—and the evidence base that helps us earn larger grant and foundation support.

Rural communities should help shape AI, not inherit it after the decisive choices are made. Your support helps make that possible.
